Activities at Bishop SeaburyBible Studies and Home GroupsOn a never changing schedule we have ongoing Bible Studies at the Church. Special programs, bibilical or other wise, are presented on Wednesday nights throughout the year and we have specialized Bible studies under the Men's and Women's Ministries. Bishop Seabury has people coming from many miles away and we desire to service and minister to those in far-off communities. It is our desire to have home groups in all of the communities where our people live. Check to see if there is a home group in your area and if there isn't, then ask about setting one up! PRAYER AND HEALING MINISTRIESPrayer is a spiritual attitude of acknowledging our dependency on God. We should all be involved in interceding for the needs of others at Bishop Seabury Church. We have a vital prayer ministry which includes a 24 hour prayer line in which you can call in immediate concerns and needs, and Prayer Warriors Group for prayer over an extended period of time. We have an extensive Healing Prayer Ministry conducted during the Service on Sunday through the use of "Red Tags", and with the Prayer Partners in the Seabury Chapel. We also have a healing Prayer gathering on the first Sunday night of each month where we gather to pray with those who are ill and desire healing. We have a Personal Prayer Program where individuals meet with either two women (for women) and two men (for men) for an hour on a regular basis to pray for specific needs, concerns, healing, and direction. Prior to the the service each Sunday, we have an Intercessors group that meet to pray for the upcoming Worship Service, and a "Gap" Ministry which prays during the first part of every service for the worship service, the worshippers, the clergy, the music and any and all aspects of our life taking place right at that time. Women's and Men's MinistriesThe women's and men's ministries are each led by one of our Lay Pastors. The women's pastor oversees the Women's Ministry and the men's pastor oversees the Men's Ministry. Our men and women have many and varied programs and one has to check the schedule to know when they meet, what the study is, and who is teaching. Usually the men meet on 7pm Tuesday nights and the women meet on Wednesday afternoon and night. The men have a fellowship meeting on the second Saturday of each month at 7am (the breakfast) and the women have Lydia Prayer Fellowship on this same Saturday at 10:00am to 2:00pm. Both men and women have annual retreats for spiritual renewal. Community and Mission OutreachAs part of our Community involvement, we participate within the State of CT with Angel Tree. This is a program that provides Christmas gifts to the children of the incarcerated. Operation Christmas Child of Samaritans Purse is a program that gathers shoe boxes filled with small gifts gathered by our parishioners for children from third world countries and war torn nations. We also serve as a relay center for this program. We provide outer wear for children in our local schools through our annual Mitten Tree collection. In addition, we provide Christmas gifts to needy children locally through Groton Social Services. These gifts are collected on the Sunday closest to St. Nicholas' Day. We participate in any and all of the local community outreach programs, and assist other churches in our community to serve those in need. Youth MinistriesChristian education class for all over the age of 2 is on Sunday morning at 9:15am throughout the school year. There are a number of youth outreach ministries. A group of teens meet regularly for a number of different activities, both social and spiritual. We have a teen age youth group that meets regularly on Wednesday evening. We have Pioneer Club on Friday nights at 6:30 for kids ages 2 to 12. Club activities include a Harvest Party, movie night, Hawaiian night, backwards night, scavenger hunt, and an end of the camp-out. Pioneer Clubs is a weekly Christian club where a child can do fun projects, make friends, play games, learn new skills, sing songs and find out more about God. Other opportunities for children include a youth choir (Junior Rejoicers) and Vacation Bible School during the summer. |
